Arkansas man killed nephew before fatally shooting himself, police say

A Texarkana man is believed to have killed his nephew before fatally shooting himself Tuesday hours after a dispute between the nephew and his grandmother, according to police.

Police said they initially responded about 11 a.m. to a home in the 1000 block of Cleveland Street in Texarkana, where a woman told authorities that she wanted her grandson, 31-year-old Aaron Kidd, to be evicted from her home.

Responding officers told the woman, whose identity had not released as of Tuesday evening, that she would need to file for civil eviction at the Miller County courthouse, according to a news release.

At 1 p.m., Texarkana police received a second call to the residence, this time in reference to a man seen lying in the yard.

The man, identified as Darryll Kidd, 36, was found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. His nephew, Aaron Kidd, was found dead inside the residence with a single gunshot wound.

Both bodies have been transported to the state Crime Laboratory in Little Rock for autopsy, authorities said. An investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information related to the case is asked to call the Texarkana Police Department at (903) 798-3154.
