ATV rider, pedestrian die in 2 accidents on Arkansas roads

A pedestrian and an ATV passenger died from separate accidents over the weekend, according to Arkansas State Police.

A tractor-trailer struck and killed Earl Parker, 54, of Memphis, in a northbound lane of Interstate 55 in Crittenden County shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday, according to a police report.

After hitting Parker, the truck stalled in a lane, but the driver didn't realize he had hit a person. Police searched and found Parker dead on the inside shoulder, the report stated.

It was raining at the time of the accident, police said.

Matthew Ford, 19, of North Little Rock died Sunday after he was thrown from an ATV that struck a concrete bridge at Newton Creek near Interstate 40 late Saturday, according to a police report.

The driver, Gregory Pogue, 23, of North Little Rock was injured.

Both were taken to a Little Rock hospital, where Ford died.
