Guinness World Records on Tuesday recognized Ron Sherman Advertising for 3,503 commercials — a feat the organization says is an all-time record for most commercials produced in history.

The Little Rock-based firm, which got its start in 1986 with former long-time TV weatherman Ron Sherman at the helm, was awarded Tuesday during a ceremony on one of the agency’s production sets.

“All of the commercials that I tape had to be put on a hard drive and we were trying for a record — we thought it might be for the most in a year,” Sherman said.

After Tuesday’s award ceremony, Sherman credited his wife, Sheila, for the business' success over its 30-year history.

"Without her managing the money, meeting me outside of TV stations and driving me all night long to catch a plane to do more commercials, we wouldn't be here today," he said.

The founder of Ron Sherman Advertising stressed that the 3,503 figure represents just a fraction of the total number of commercials the agency has produced in the past 15 years — an estimated 70,000. Of that total, 6,414 were produced last year, he said.

While some commercials air in Arkansas, about 95 percent air outside of the state, appearing in markets such as Seattle, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta and Dallas.

Sherman said his company makes the most commercials — up to 1,000 in a year — for Beldon Home Solutions.
