RUSSELLVILLE -- The Pope County sheriff's office said Monday it was investigating the shooting death of an Atkins man as a homicide.
Authorities identified the victim as Bruce Wayne Hurley, 49.
The sheriff's office issued a news release saying deputies responded to a shooting at 2223 Edwards Road in Atkins at 12:55 a.m. Monday and found a wounded Hurley, who lived at the address. Hurley was treated at the scene and taken to a Russellville hospital where he died, the office said.
Sheriff Shane Jones did not immediately return a phone message seeking further comment. The sheriff's office said later there were no suspects.
