A former Arkansas Game and Fish Commission broadcaster will join Cumulus Media in Little Rock to continue hosting his radio show dedicated to outdoor activities in Arkansas, a spokesman for the company said Tuesday.

Steve "Wildman" Wilson will broadcast his "Call of the Wild" show every Saturday from 6-7 a.m. The one-hour program, originating over KARN FM 102.9 in Little Rock, will air across the state through the Arkansas Radio Network, said Keith Liesmann, the market manager for Cumulus Media in Little Rock.

“Even if listeners don’t hunt or fish, they’re up early to float our streams, hike our trails or just see the beauty of this place we call home," Wilson said in a statement. "I know everybody at KARN, and they made me feel like a member of the family a long time ago. I can’t wait until Saturday.”

Wilson hosted the show for 10 years on behalf of Arkansas Game and Fish, where he worked for 37 years. He retired from the commission Friday but was persuaded to continue the show as an employee at KARN, program director Bob Steel said.

“We are excited to announce that you just thought Wildman Steve Wilson had retired,” Liesmann said. “Our affiliate partners let us know very quickly that the show was a staple in their Saturday morning lineups, and they felt no one could fill the Wildman’s shoes."
