Teen injured, 2 sought in Hot Springs shooting

Two black males are sought in connection with a shooting Thursday morning in Hot Springs that left a teenager injured, according to police.

In a news release, the police department said that a 17-year-old boy was shot in the groin area about 11 a.m. at Wade Street Park, 300 Wade St. in Hot Springs, by one of the two sought in a robbery attempt.

Both robbers later fled the scene on foot, according to authorities. Physical descriptions of the two were not immediately available.

The minor, whose injuries were described as not life-threatening, was transported to a local hospital via a private vehicle, the news release states. The Sentinel-Record identified that hospital as National Park Medical Center.

Police said K-9s were unsuccessful in attempting to track down the two sought. No arrests had been made as of about 12:50 p.m. Thursday, according to authorities.

The shooting caused Langston Magnet School in Hot Springs to be locked down briefly, the Sentinel-Record reported.
