Police: Little Rock man found asleep at wheel with drugs in lap

A report of a man asleep at the wheel of a vehicle at a gas pump yielded an arrest, a quantity of a drugs and a 9mm semiautomatic pistol with two magazines containing 17 rounds Wednesday morning, Little Rock police said.

Officers responding to Site Food Mart at 7320 Cantrell Road about 11:15 a.m. found the man asleep at the wheel of the vehicle at a gas pump with a jar of marijuana in his lap, according to an arrest report. A subsequent search of the vehicle netted, in addition to the 37 grams of marijuana in the jar, 32 Xanax tablets, a small quantity of other drugs and a set of digital scales, as well as the weapon and ammunition.

Joseph Nard, 26, of 9 Renee Cove in Little Rock was charged with single counts of simultaneously possessing drugs and a firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana with purpose to sell or deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia and four counts of possession, of Schedule IV drugs with purpose to sell or deliver.

He remained without bail Wednesday night at the Pulaski County jail.
