Windstream reports first-quarter loss of $232 million

Little Rock-based Windsteam Holdings Inc. reported a net loss of $232 million in the first quarter, according to results released Thursday.

Total revenues and sales in the period were $137 billion, the company reported, a 3.5 percent decline from the first quarter of 2015 when the company made a $5 million profit on $1.42 billion in sales.

The loss to start 2016 amounted to $2.52 per share.

The results did not derail the companies projections for the rest of the year, CEO Tony Thomas said in a news release. The release said the results include a "non-cash impairment charge of $182 million related to a decrease in the market value of Windstream’s investment holdings of CS&L."

Windstream will host a conference call on the results at 7:30 a.m. It can be accessed on the company website or by calling (877) 374-3977 and using ID 86862448. A replay will be available later Thursday morning on the website or by calling (855) 859-2056 and using the same ID number.
