*— Top 4 teams advance to state tournament

Ewing put Dover ahead for good when he connected to left field in the second inning off Prairie Grove starter Logan Gragg. Gragg also hit a home run for Prairie Grove, but it came in the seventh with the Tigers trailing 6-1.

The defeat was part of a disappointing day for teams from the 4A-1 Conference, which went 1-3 in the opening round. Dover (22-3) will play at 2:30 p.m. today against Shiloh Christian, which shut out Ozark 2-0.

Ewing had a strong showing on the mound after missing part of last season with an arm injury. As a sophomore, Ewing pitched a complete game against Pea Ridge to send the Pirates to the state tournament.

"Christian had a setback, but he rehabbed all summer and had a good fall," Dover coach Jason McGhee said. "He's been hitting and doing everything all year."

Prairie Grove (11-17) played without coach Chris Mileham, who was forced to sit out after being ejected for arguing against Shiloh Christian. The Tigers were meager at the plate and sloppy in the field with five errors, including two errors in the fifth inning when Dover took a 6-1 lead.

"We didn't do enough to give ourselves a chance," Prairie Grove assistant coach Mason Pinkley said. "We made too many errors and didn't get enough timely hits."

Gragg, who has signed with Connors State College in Warner, Okla., had two hits in his final game for Prairie Grove.

Pottsville 5, Huntsville 4

Nick Hagerty hit a two-run home run to put Pottsville ahead and the Apaches held on to defeat Huntsville.

Huntsville scored a run in the seventh with the help of two errors then received a walk that loaded the bases with two outs. But reliever Will Stewart got a strikeout to save the game for Greyson Stevens, who pitched 6 2/3 innings.

Pottsville (17-8) advanced to play Clinton (20-6) today at noon.

Shiloh Christian 2, Ozark 0

Gunner Gilbert threw a complete-game, two-hitter to lead No. 2 seed Shiloh Christian past Ozark. The senior left-hander struck out seven and hit one batter. Broderick Butler provided the game's only runs with a two-run single in the fourth inning.

The Saints (10-10) will play Dover today at 2:30 p.m.

Clinton 5, Pea Ridge 4 (8 innings)

Senior left-hander Kannon Bradley pitched all eight inning to lead No. 4 seed Clinton to a victory over Pea Ridge (17-2), the top seed from the 4A-1 Conference.

Pea Ridge jumped to a 3-0 lead after two innings. Clinton tied it with three runs in the fifth inning, then took the lead with two runs in the top of the eighth.
