A slight risk for severe weather Monday exists across most of the state.

Most of Arkansas is under a slight risk for severe weather Monday as a storm system moves in and kicks off a rainy week, forecasters said.

The storm will likely move through the state Monday afternoon and last into the overnight hours, National Weather Service meteorologist Jeff Hood said.

Hail and damaging winds will be the primary concern, but isolated tornadoes are also possible, according to the weather service.

Hood said additional storms bringing up to 2 inches across the state are likely, but it is too soon to determine if the weather will turn severe.

"People shouldn't get hung up on the details or the exact boundaries," he said. "Just understand that severe weather will be possible, and awareness is one of the biggest things."
