Jonesboro voters repeal new property maintenance code

JONESBORO — Voters in Jonesboro have repealed a measure that would have imposed new regulations on how property is maintained throughout the city.

Nearly two-thirds of voters supported the repeal in a special election Tuesday. The property maintenance code would have set standards for the maintenance of all buildings in the city, including people's homes.

The Jonesboro City Council approved the code in December.

Mayor Harold Perrin says city leaders will review comments from public hearings to try to draw up another proposal on property maintenance in the city.
