Little Rock woman dies in multi-vehicle crash on I-40

A Little Rock woman died Friday in a five-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 near Conway, Arkansas State Police said.

Andrea Epperson, 43, died in the accident about 6:15 p.m., according to a police report.

Deputies said Epperson was traveling east when a westbound Ford pickup truck crossed the median and collided head-on with her sport utility vehicle.

Epperson's SUV then went airborne and was hit by two other eastbound vehicles — a Chevrolet Tahoe and a Chevrolet Camero — while in the air. The pickup collided with a fifth vehicle in the eastbound lanes of traffic, police said.

The drivers of three of the vehicles were taken to a UAMS, Baptist Health and Conway Regional medical centers for treatment, according to the report.

Police described weather and road conditions as clear and dry at the time of the crash.

Epperson's death was the 163rd reported on an Arkansas road this year, according to preliminary police information.
