1 killed, 3 injured in accident on I-40

A multiple-vehicle accident in Faulkner County killed one woman and injured several others Friday evening, state police reported.

Andrea Epperson, 43, of Little Rock was driving a 2013 Toyota Highlander east along Interstate 40 about 6:15 p.m. when an oncoming Ford F350 crossed the median and entered her lane of traffic. The vehicles collided head on, causing the Toyota to go airborne and hit two other vehicles. The Ford then collided with one other oncoming vehicle in the eastbound lanes, according to the report.

The injured drivers of three of the vehicles were taken to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock, Conway Regional Medical Center in Conway, and Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, according to the report.

Injured were Michael Phillips, 37, of North Little Rock, the driver of the Ford; Carol Betts, 44, of Neosho, Mo., the driver of a Chevrolet Camaro that was struck by the Toyota; and Travis Miller, 54, of Rison, the driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe that was struck by the Ford, according to the report, which did not list their conditions.

Weather conditions were described as clear and roads as dry at the time of the accident.

On Saturday morning, two motorcyclists were killed in accidents while traveling state highways, state police reported.

Tyler William Alls, 23, was driving a 2006 Honda motorcycle north on Arkansas 91 in Lawrence County when he struck the rear of a Chevrolet pickup as it was turning off the highway.

Johnny Norvell, 33, of Garfield was driving a 2002 Indian motorcycle west on Arkansas 72 in Benton County when he struck a Ford Ranger turning off the highway.

Weather conditions were listed as clear and dry at the time of both accidents.
