A Florida company with more than 90 years of experience in the marine industry has acquired Arkansas-based boat manufacturer SeaArk Boats.

In a news release Monday, Correct Craft, based in Orlando, said it plans to continue and expand SeaArk’s existing Monticello operation.

Financial terms of the acquisition deal were not disclosed.

“After fifty-eight years in the marine industry, it is a bittersweet decision for the McClendon family to exit the recreational boat building business, but we believe that we have found the right owner in Correct Craft,” said Robin McClendon, SeaArk’s previous owner and member of the company’s founding family.

Monday’s announcement marks Correct Craft’s entry into the aluminum fishing boat market.

“The McClendon family have done a wonderful job for decades, and we are honored that they would trust their brand, legacy and employees to Correct Craft,” said Bill Yeargin, president and CEO of Correct Craft. “We are thrilled to work together with the SeaArk team in Monticello to continue to grow the company.”

SeaArk said in a message to customers on Facebook that the company “is not changing in any way, shape or form” as a result of the acquisition.

“We feel this is a great move for SeaArk to help expand the business and to get more people into our product,” the manufacturer said.

SeaArk, founded in 1958 as MonArk Boat Co., builds all-welded fishing aluminum boats that range from 14 to 24 feet long, as well as tunnel and jet tunnel hulls.
