It is the longest losing streak by the baseball team since it lost 12 straight in 1965, when the program did not resemble its current stature.

Bill Ferrell was in his final season as Arkansas' coach. Norm DeBriyn was a second-year coach at Hortonville High School in Wisconsin and five years away from becoming the Razorbacks' coach. Arkansas played at the Washington County Fairgrounds and was 10 years away from moving into George Cole Field.

Here is a snapshot of what the world looked like the last time Arkansas lost at least nine consecutive games:

-Mike Anderson was five years old, Dave Van Horn was four years old and Bret Bielema had not been born yet.

-Arkansas football was coming off a perfect 11-0 season and was named the national champion by the Football Writers Association of America. The team was in the midst of a school-record 22-game winning streak.

-Arkansas basketball had just completed a 9-14 season under Glen Rose. Eddie Sutton was the head coach at Tulsa Central High school and his first season at Arkansas was still 10 years away.

-The Astrodome in Houston opened two days after the losing streak began.

-The Gateway Arch in St. Louis was six months away from being completed.

-The U.S. occupied the Dominican Republic as part of the Cold War, while the Vietnam War raged across the Pacific Ocean.

-The Sound of Music was the No. 1 movie and Game of Love by Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders was the No. 1 song in the U.S. when the streak ended.

-A loaf of bread cost 21 cents, a gallon of gas cost 31 cents, a new car cost $2,650, a new house cost $13,600 and the average annual income was $6,450 in the U.S., according to ThePeopleHistory.com.

Arkansas will try to end the skid in its final midweek game of the season Tuesday, an NCAA Super Regional rematch with Missouri State. The Bears beat the Razorbacks 14-6 on May 3 in Springfield, Missouri.
