Police arrested 18 of 26 people identified as participants in a methamphetamine distribution syndicate, Texarkana police spokesman Cpl. Kristi Bennett said. Arrest warrants have been issued for the remaining eight members.

Those arrested could face a combination of state and federal charges ranging from delivery of a controlled substance to weapons charges. Some charges could be enhanced if the sale of methamphetamine occurred near schools, churches or city parks, Bennett said.

The arrests came after an eight-month undercover investigation that included officers from the Texarkana and Texarkana, Texas, police departments; the Miller County and Bowie County, Texas sheriff's offices; Arkansas State Police; the Texas Department of Public Safety; the FBI; and the U.S. Marshals Service.
