Arkansas woman dies from injuries sustained in moped crash

A Van Buren woman on Monday died from injuries sustained in a wreck earlier this month after running a stop sign, according to Arkansas State Police.

In a report, state police said Lillian Jones, 49, was flown to Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock after the northbound moped she was driving collided at 2:47 p.m. May 2 with an eastbound 1999 Ford at 28th Street and Alma Boulevard.

Jones, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead Monday at the hospital, authorities said.

The driver of the Ford, whose identity was not released, was not injured, according to state police.

Travel conditions at the time of the crash were described as clear and dry in the report.

Her death was the 181st reported by state police in a traffic crash in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
