Dakota Hudson fired his second straight shutout in No. 4 Mississippi State's 7-0 series-opening win over Arkansas in Starkville, Miss, Thursday.
It is Razorbacks' first shutout loss of the season and first to the Bulldogs since 1992, when Mississippi State won 2-0 in the teams' first game as conference opponents.

Hudson (9-3) scattered five hits and two walks while striking out 10. He has thrown 18 consecutive scoreless innings for Mississippi State (38-14-1, 19-9 SEC).
Arkansas (26-27, 7-22) put runners on base in five innings, but threatened to score just twice.
The Razorbacks' first opportunity came in the sixth, when they put runners on first and third with one out. However, Rick Nomura grounded into an inning-ending double play.
The next inning, Clark Eagan reached on a two-out single and moved to second on a wild pitch. He advanced to third on Chad Spanberger's single, but was thrown out at home trying to score. The left fielder's throw was off line, but the catcher relayed it to Hudson covering home, just beating Eagan.
Mississippi State took advantage of five Arkansas errors, scoring seven runs - only three earned - off starter Dominic Taccolini (5-5) in 5 1/3 innings.
Two sacrifice flies, two errors and a wild pitch directly resulted in five runs, while Jacob Robson had an RBI infield single and Nathaniel Lowe had an RBI double to account for the other two runs.
The Bulldogs were led by a 5-for-5 performance by Jake Mangum.
Three Arkansas relievers - Jake Reindl, Doug Willey and Anthony Dahl - combined to allow only one hit and strike out four batters in 2 2/3 innings.
The loss extends the Razorbacks' losing streak to 11 games, which is one shy of tying the UA modern-era record (since 1960). They lost 12 straight during the 1965 season.
Arkansas and Mississippi State will play the second game of the series Friday at 6:30 p.m.
