THE RUNDOWN UALR needs to make up two games on Louisiana-Lafayette to enter the Sun Belt Tournament as a No. 2 seed, which would require Louisiana-Lafayette losing at least two games to Louisiana-Monroe. The Trojans also can enter as low as the No. 6 seed if they get swept. The Red Wolves need to simply stay one game ahead of Louisiana-Monroe and Georgia State. ASU holds the tie breaker over Louisiana-Monroe, but not Georgia State. UALR’s Ryan Scott is two hits away from tying UALR’s single-season hits record (86), while Dalton Thomas is three hits away. ASU’s Cody Jackson held Texas State to 1 run on 5 hits over 6 innings in a victory last week.

The bad news is, the Bears have to play the Southland leaders while holding onto their spot with a one-game lead on Houston Baptist for the final spot in the tournament. The Bears hold the tiebreaker over Houston Baptist, but not Nicholls State, which is two games behind the Bears. Southeastern Louisiana’s Jameson Fisher is the leading hitter in Division I with a .449 average.
