A Little Rock police officer has been placed on paid administrative leave after a resident accused the officer of shooting him in the leg during a foot chase, a spokesman for the police department said Monday.

Officers responded at 3:27 a.m. Sunday to Peyton and 29th streets, where they found two men, Alexander and Jeff Davis, who appeared to be intoxicated, according to a police report.

Police spokesman Richard Hilgeman said the officers told the brothers to go home, but one of them yelled an inappropriate comment as they both fled toward their home on 29th Street.

Officer Jordan White pursued the men but stopped when a dog appeared and moved toward him aggressively. White fired three shots at the dog, which ran underneath a nearby vehicle, according to the report. The dog was unhurt.

Alexander Davis was taken to St. Vincent Hospital with a leg wound sustained during the chase. He said a stray bullet caused the injury, but that has not yet been determined, Hilgeman said.
