UCA approves tuition increase for coming year

CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas on Monday approved increases in tuition, fees and room-and-board rates for the coming fiscal year.

The board gave its OK to a 4.25 percent tuition and fee increase and a 4.5 increase in room and board.

The board also voted unanimously to give employees who have been at UCA since at least Dec. 31 an across-the-board $500 bonus from current revenues. Trustees also approved a 2 percent cost-of-living adjustment in the coming fiscal year for full-time employees and for part-time, adjunct faculty members.

The tuition and fee increase means in-state undergraduates will pay $207.43 per credit hour, up from $197.25, and graduate students will pay $255.23 per credit hour, up from $243.04.

The 4.5 percent increase in room and board means those rates will rise from $2,991 per semester to $3,124 per semester.

The tuition increase numbers cover some higher fees, including a $1 per semester higher athletic fee. It will go from $17 to $18 per credit hour.
