Hall of Fame calls CJRW co-founder

Jim D. Johnson, co-founder of what would become advertising agency CJRW, will be inducted into the 10th District of the American Advertising Federation's Southwest Advertising Hall of Fame on June 25.

Johnson and 2008 Hall of Fame inductee Wayne Cranford co-founded Cranford/Johnson Inc. in 1961. CJRW is the state's largest advertising, marketing and public relations agency and Johnson, founder and vice chairman emeritus, serves as a board member.

Among Johnson's accomplishments: designing the program for President Bill Clinton's 1993 inauguration; logos for the state of Arkansas; Save Old Main Campaign at the University of Arkansas; and the Arkansas Arts Center. Johnson was honored in 1994 with the federation's Silver Medal for his work and he has been recognized with a lifetime achievement award from the Arkansas Arts Council.

Shelby and Wayne Woods, also CJRW pioneers, were inducted in 2013.

In 2006, Robertson began work at the UA as an associate professor in what is now the apparel, merchandising and product development program, according to a release.

The search for permanent dean is expected to start in the fall.
