A woman found with possible cigarette burns and evidence that she had been bound Tuesday led to charges of battery and kidnapping against the man she lived with in the town of Lakeview, the Baxter County sheriff's office said.

Sheriff's deputies arrested David Turner Gengler, 54, after responding to a home on Greenwood Avenue in response to a 911 call shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday, according to a news release.

The woman, 57, was found lying near the front door with marks around her wrists, police said, adding that they found tape on the bathroom floor and blood spatters on the walls.

The woman was taken to the Baxter Regional Medical Center and then to a hospital in Springfield, Mo.

Gengler was booked into the Baxter County jail with bail set at $250,000, according to jail records.

His first court appearance is scheduled for June 2.
