Henry Wayne Brooks, 55, of North Little Rock (left) has been arrested in a bank robbery at the U.S. Bank branch at 4311 E. Broadway.

A North Little Rock man is accused of demanding money from a bank teller Wednesday morning during a holdup and fleeing to his home to hide the money, according to police.

Employees told police that a black man, later identified as Henry Wayne Brooks, 55, entered the U.S. Bank branch at 4311 E. Broadway about 10:12 a.m., handed the teller a note demanding money and falsely indicated that he had a weapon.

The robber was successfully able to get money in "various denominations" from the bank teller before fleeing on foot, according to police.

Sgt. Brian Dedrick, spokesman for the North Little Rock Police Department, declined to give a monetary value.

Police executed a search warrant at Brooks' home in the 2500 block of Lincoln Street, where they found clothing that matched the description of the robber — a blue striped shirt and black hat — as well as money in various denominations.

Authorities also found an impression of the note on a writing pad with a portion of its paper missing, which read: "Just give me the money please an no one get hurt."

Brooks admitted during a police interview Wednesday afternoon to writing the note, leaving the bank with money and fleeing home, where he hid the cash in his bed, according to the release.

He faces charges of aggravated robbery and theft of property, and is scheduled to appear Wednesday morning in North Little Rock District Court for a plea and arraignment hearing.
