The husband of a babysitter was arrested Monday in connection with sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl his wife babysat, according to court documents.

Reynaldo Camarillo Perez, 44, of Siloam Springs was being held Wednesday in the Benton County Jail with a $40,000 bond set. He was arrested in connection with sexual assault in the second degree, a Class B felony, which is punishable with a prison sentence ranging from five to 20 years.

Prosecutors have not filed formal charges against Perez.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Benton County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call in Siloam Springs regarding a call concerning the sexual abuse of a 9-year-old girl.

The mother said she dropped her daughter off on May 10 and picked her up the next day, according to court documents.

The woman said she noticed that her daughter was acting strangely and she began asking questions, the affidavit states. The girl told her mother that Perez sat her in his lap and touched her inappropriately, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit identified Perez as the husband of the girl’s babysitter.

According the affidavit, the babysitter also cared for other children in her home.

Keshia Guyll, the spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, said there could be other victims.

“We encourage any other potential victims to come forward if they have had contact with Reynaldo Perez,” Guyll said.

Perez’s arraignment is scheduled for 8 a.m. July 5 in Circuit Judge Robin Green’s court.
