A bear was spotted Thursday in a Fayetteville backyard on West Old Farmington Road and got into a squirrel-proof — but "not bear proof" — bird feeder, Jeff Hawkins, who submitted a photo he took of the bear, said in an email.
The feeder was about 15 to 20 feet from the deck door, Hawkins said.
The bear came twice during the night and came back Thursday morning "for a 'good' picture," Hawkins said.
Fayetteville police received several calls of bear sightings in the area Thursday.
