E. coli levels close two swim beaches

Two Arkansas swim beaches are closed because of high E. coli levels, according to news releases from offices of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Shoal Bay beach on Lake Dardanelle and the Arkansas 125 beach on Bull Shoals Lake are closed until further notice because of higher than acceptable levels of E. coli in recent testing by the Arkansas Department of Health.

The high bacteria levels could be from runoff following recent heavy rains, department officials said.

Swimming is not recommended in areas with high bacteria levels, according to the releases.
