Olympic skaters set to talk at Little Rock school

Two Olympic gold medalists will speak at 6 p.m. June 7 at the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock.

Bonnie Blair Cruikshank and Dan Jansen, who are speed skaters, will discuss the bond they forged and their Olympic experiences.

Cruikshank won five gold medals between 1988 and 1994. Jansen fell during the 500-meter race at the 1988 Winter Games just hours after learning of his sister's death. He came back, winning a gold medal in his final race at the 1994 Olympic Games.

Their speech is part of the Frank and Kula Kumpuris Distinguished Lecture series, which was established by Katherine Ann Kumpuris Trotter, Dr. Drew Kumpuris and Dr. Dean Kumpuris in honor of their mother, Kula Kumpuris, and in memory of their father, Dr. Frank Kumpuris. The lecture series is sponsored by the Clinton Foundation, the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service and AT&T.

Admission is free. Reservations are required and can be made by emailing publicprograms@clintonschool.uasys.edu or calling (501) 683-5239.
