Arkansas Democrat-Gazette/STATON BREIDENTHAL --5/10/16-- Andrew Rogerson (left) talks with Sherry Rankins-Robertson, UALR Associate Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Wednesday afternoon before meeting with faculty and staff on the school's campus.

Andrew Rogerson will be the new leader of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

The University of Arkansas System board on Thursday unanimously approved hiring Rogerson as the university's next chancellor, finalizing a recommendation made earlier this month by UA System President Donald Bobbitt.

Rogerson, provost and vice president of academic affairs at Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, Calif., was one of three finalists selected last month to replace outgoing Chancellor Joel Anderson. Anderson is retiring at the end of June after 13 years in the position.

In a story earlier this month, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette detailed Rogerson’s plans for UALR made during a visit to campus May 11-12. Among them: taking more steps to use the university's metropolitan-area location.

The other two finalists were Cheryl D. Lovell, special adviser to the chancellor and to the academic officer of the Colorado State University System; and Mark Rudin, vice president for research and academic development at Boise State University.
