UA business team wins in Las Vegas

VivImmune, a business plan developed by graduate students at the University of Arkansas, was the overall graduate division winner at the ninth Donald W. Reynolds Tri-State Collegiate Business Plan competition Thursday in Las Vegas.

VivImmune developed a cancer treatment therapy. The business won $30,000 for winning the graduate competition, on top of $25,000 it received for winning the Reynolds college business-plan competition for Arkansas last month.

In addition, VivImmune's Sean Smith won $2,000 in the elevator pitch contest in Las Vegas, where plans from Oklahoma and Nevada also competed.

Actio Systems of the University of Arkansas received $20,000 for finishing second in the graduate competition Thursday. Actio Systems also received $15,000 last month for finishing second in Little Rock.

In the undergraduate division, Natural State Bedding from John Brown University finished second Thursday in Las Vegas and received $20,000. Natural State Bedding also finished second in Little Rock last month and received $15,000.
