A Batesville man died Sunday in an early morning wreck on Arkansas 25, state police said.
Billy Varela, 27, was riding his Kawasaki motorcycle just past 1:30 a.m. in Independence County. He crashed when he went off the road on a curve and overturned in a ditch before hitting an embankment, according to an accident report.
Police said weather conditions at the time of the wreck were clear, and the road was dry.
The accident marked the 196th fatal wreck this year in Arkansas, according to preliminary police information.
