Veterans, state leaders and families gathered at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock Monday morning to honor the fallen military members.
The hour-long Memorial Day ceremony featured featured speeches by Gov. Asa Hutchinson and veterans organization leaders who said the sacrifices of fallen Arkansans necessitate pause during the holiday weekend.
“Many people are at the lake and picnicking and that’s fine, that's good,” Hutchinson said. “But it's those who fought for the freedoms and joys of life that we are here remembering."
