Customer in McDonald's drive-thru gets run over by own car

MOUNT PLEASANT, Pa. — Police say a Pennsylvania woman going through the drive-thru at McDonald's dropped her bag of food at the window, fell out of her car while trying to retrieve it and then was run over by her own vehicle.

State police say 76-year-old Janet Pfeifer dropped the bag as a worker in Unity Township near Latrobe handed it to her Saturday, so she opened her car door and leaned out to pick it up. But in doing so, she fell out of the car, which rolled forward and hit a block wall, then rolled backward over her.

The woman was taken by ambulance to a nearby airport, then flown to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh.

The Mount Pleasant woman was listed in serious condition Tuesday morning.
