College's marketing staff wins awards

Northwest Arkansas Community College's public relations and marketing team received six awards Oct. 28 at the annual awards ceremony for District 4 of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations held in Santa Fe, N.M. Gold, silver and bronze awards were presented in 45 categories.

Gold awards were won for Print Ads and Flier Series; silver awards were received in the Viewbook and Logos categories; and bronze awards were presented for Brochure Series, academic programs and Special Event Promotion categories and for a campaign promoting Pokemon Go.

The college's public relations and marketing team includes: Steven Hinds, executive director of public relations and marketing; Dianna Winters-Lewis, marketing manager and design lead; Daniel Yeager, public relations and social media specialist; Amy McLarty, graphic designer; and Ryan Tiffin, part-time public relations and social media coordinator. Former staff members Justin Froning and Zac Trout also contributed to the projects.

P+R Architects gives itself a new name

Architectural firm P+R Architects (Perkowitz + Ruth Architects) renamed itself Retail Design Collaborative. The 37-year-old firm has an office in Rogers.

The name change has been several years in the making and is driven by the firm's desire to better align its brand and business positioning with all aspects of the retail realm. Retail Design Collaborative works in architecture, planning and interior design.

Water district team wins competition

Beaver Water District placed first in the Southwest Section-American Water Works Association Top Ops Challenge held Oct. 25 in Rogers.

Team members are Dustin Mayhew, Springdale, plant operator; Frank Blowers, Pea Ridge, maintenance supervisor; and Nikki Holloway, Springdale, laboratory analyst.

They will compete for the third time in the Top Ops Challenge in Philadelphia during the association's conference June 11-14.

Blue Zoo Creative to expand services

Fayetteville's Blue Zoo Creative now is a full-service creative agency for all forms of visual communication.

The company was founded in 2008 by Eric Huber and Collin Condray. Huber said many people have viewed Blue Zoo as simply a website and digital graphic design company and didn't realize it also does design for print projects.

The new approach will include print and graphic design, blogging and other forms of content creation, website development and design, social media, video production, illustration, branding, and search engine optimization.

Architecture firm wins design honor

Design projects by Marlon Blackwell Architects received Education Facility Design Awards in a program sponsored by the American Institute of Architects' Committee of Architecture for Education.

The Vol Walker Hall renovation and Steven L. Anderson Design Center addition at the University of Arkansas received one of six awards of excellence. The project, completed in 2013, is home to the Fay Jones School of Architecture. Blackwell's Fayetteville firm worked in collaboration with Polk Stanley Wilcox Architects.

The Fayetteville High School addition and renovation design received an award of merit, one of six such awards given. The 500,000-square-foot project, which was completed in phases over three years, was the city's largest civic project in the past 50 years. Blackwell's firm worked in collaboration with Hight Jackson Associates in Rogers and DLR Group in Overland Park, Kan.
