Stalk Chop from Chef’n
Stalk Chop from Chef’n

One of the more tedious aspects of prepping fresh cauliflower and broccoli is separating the florets from the stalk. Sure, a paring knife does the job, but it isn't necessarily the safest or most efficient method. So we were intrigued when we received a pitch for the Stalk Chop from Chef'n. The spade-shaped tool is designed to quickly and cleanly cut the florets away from the stalk of cauliflower and broccoli. We tested it on a large head of cauliflower with excellent results. We still needed a paring knife to trim the florets into smaller pieces, but after removing we were left with a clean, ready-to-slice stalk with minimal waste.

The thick handle is easy for those with arthritis or carpal tunnel to grasp and the sharp (but not dangerously so), curved blade easily cuts through the vegetable -- outer leaves included -- without too much effort.

Dishwasher safe.
