Collage memorial

Wildwood Park for the Arts' Art in the Park Exhibition Program will hold an opening reception for the exhibition "In Memory of Amy Edgington: Collage Artists of Arkansas," 6-8 p.m. today at Wildwood, 20919 Denny Road, Little Rock. The reception will feature music by alternative jazz band The Rolling Blackouts. Poet Sandy Longhorn will read from her current project, Self-Ekphrasis 20 x 20, a series of 20 poems illustrated by 20 collages.

The exhibition features original works by Edgington, a Little Rock artist who died Nov. 19, 2015, at age 69, plus tribute collages and mixed-media works by friends and admirers Michael Church, Becky Botos, Jerry Colburn, Erin Lorenzen, Laura Fanning, Cherece Athy, Daniel Evans, Jessica Crenshaw, Byron Werner and Daniel Evans. The exhibition will remain on display through Dec. 16. Hours for the gallery, in the park's Lucy Lockett Cabe Festival Theatre complex, are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, noon-4 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. Admission to the reception and to the galleries is free.

In conjunction with the exhibit, Wildwood will host a Collage Party Workshop, 1-4 p.m. Sunday, starting with a "Community Conversation" with photographer Lynn Frost, Edgington's longtime partner; artists Church, Botos and others will demonstrate collage composition techniques using Edgington's materials. Violin, piano & dance

Violinist Oksana Pavilionis will give a concert with pianist Larisa Denman and Pine Bluff-based Russian dance troupe "Dev4ata" (pronounced "Devchata" -- Yelena House, Svetlana Clemmons, Larisa Kachowski and Olga Calvert), 7 p.m. today at the Argenta Community Theater, 405 Main St., North Little Rock. UCA choral concert

The University of Central Arkansas University Chorus will perform at 7:30 p.m. today in the Recital Hall, Snow Fine Arts Center, UCA, 201 Donaghey Ave., Conway. The program will include four settings of Psalm 99 in English or Latin: Jubilate Deo by Michael Praetorius, Jubilate Deo by Orlando di Lasso, Exsultate, Jubilate Deo by Ruth Morris Gray, Jubilate Deo by W.A. Mozart and "Serve the Lord With Gladness" by Rollo Dilworth. On the second half of the program the Voices of Central Arkansas High School Choir, part of the UCA Community School of Music, will join the University Chorus for five pieces together, including "Glow" by Eric Whitacre and "Babethandaza," a South African folk song arranged by Daniel Hughes. Billy Blythe at OBU

Nerd at Harrison

The humdrum life of an unassuming architect and landlord (Daniel Seay) goes through a major upheaval when a fellow veteran (Josiah Reynolds) shows up to claim an unpaid debt and turns out to be a bumbling oaf with no social sense, little intelligence, and even less tact in The Nerd by Larry Shue, which NorthArk Drama and the Ozark Arts Council is staging, 7 p.m. today-Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Lyric Theater, 115 Rush St., Harrison. Homeless benefit

Diamond Carpet Entertainment and Ms. Phat Kat are putting on a two-pronged "Help the Homeless" benefit event, Saturday at Power Ultra Lounge, 220 W. Sixth St., Little Rock: 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m., games for children, door prizes and a DJ, and, 8:30 p.m.-3 a.m., including a pre-Thanksgiving dinner, door prizes and entertainers from across the country.
