Furry friends, animal lovers feed kitty for rescue group

Furry, four-legged guests reveled in attention, tummy rubs and ear scratches from two-legged guests at Paws in the Vineyard, a Nov. 3 fundraiser for Central Arkansas Rescue Effort for Animals (CARE) at Trapnall Hall in Little Rock.

Several well-behaved and friendly, adoptable dogs were on hand for the event; one arrived wearing a wreath of grapevines around its neck.

Trapnall Hall was filled with music by the four-piece band The Gentlemen Jazz, and guests could watch Jeffrey Nodelman, a former Disney animator, create a painting that was auctioned later in the evening. The dining area was lined with silent auction items and centered with a food buffet and wine pull. Libations were also available.

Out on the back patio, guests could take advantage of a lip and lash bar by Mary Kay to freshen their makeup before posing for photographs.

The evening, with some 110 guests in attendance, raised more than $14,000 for CARE. "These funds will be used to help cats and dogs in need and to provide low-cost spay/neuter services to Arkansans," said executive director Ashley Younger.
