Hendrix Chamber Orchestra slates Thanksgiving concert

Arkansas Symphony Orchestra co-concertmaster Andrew Irvin will perform the Violin Concerto No. 1 in g minor by Max Bruch with the Hendrix College Chamber Orchestra and conductor Karen Griebling in the orchestra's annual Thanksgiving Concert, 7:30 p.m. Monday, Reves Recital Hall at Hendrix, 1600 Washington Ave., Conway.

Also on the program: Griebling's Pyramids from her music for Ray Bradbury's The Halloween Tree; the Symphony No. 1, "Classical," by Sergei Prokofiev; and the Fantasy on Greensleeves by Ralph Vaughan-Williams. Admission is free. Call (501) 450-1249 or email griebling@hendrix.edu.

Chamber ensembles

University of Arkansas-Fort Smith student flute, guitar, brass and saxophone ensembles, a woodwind quintet and a clarinet quartet will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday at The Blue Lion at UAFS Downtown, 101 N. Auditions

• Northark Drama and the Theatre Company of the Ozarks will hold auditions for One Man, Two Guv'nors, Richard Bean's adaptation of the 1743 Italian Commedia dell'arte play, Il servitore di due padroni (Servant of Two Masters) by Carlo Goldoni, at 6 p.m. Dec. 5-6 at the Lyric Theater, 115 W. Rush St., Harrison. Directors Bekah Wilson and Michael Mahoney will cast via cold readings from the script; British accents are encouraged. Production dates are April 27-30 and May 4-7. • Arkansas Public Theatre will hold auditions for the musical Young Frankenstein (music and lyrics by Mel Brooks, book by Brooks and Thomas Meehan), 7 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Victory Theater, 116 S. Second St., Rogers. Auditions will be based upon readings from the script, singing music from the show and a dance combination; a complete audition packet, including scenes, character descriptions, music and rehearsal schedule, is available online at arkansaspublictheatre.org.

Doors open at 6:30; auditions will be closed to all but those trying out. Callbacks, if needed, will take place 7 p.m. Dec. 6. Production dates are Feb. 10-12, 16-19 and 23. Call (479) 631-8988.

Beautiful tickets

Family Series

East Arkansas Community College's 2016-17 Family Series will open at 3 p.m. Jan. 14 at the college's Fine Arts Center, 1700 Newcastle Road, Forrest City, with Lightwire Theater's touring production of The Ugly Duckling, using "dazzling visuals, poignant choreography and creative use of music ranging from classical and jazz to pop," according to a news release, to tell the story of the "duckling" who discovers, through resilience and heroism, that it has become a beautiful swan.

Theatreworks USA brings Two Beans Productions' touring musical Alexander, Who's Not, Not, Not, Not, Not, Not Going to Move -- music by Shelly Markham and lyrics and book by Judith Viorst, based on Viorst's children's book Alexander, Who's Not (Do you hear me? I mean it!) Going to Move -- to the Fine Arts Center stage, 3 p.m. April 2.
