WHAT: Cracker Jack Holiday Sugar Cookie Popcorn
STATS: A 1-ounce bag contains 110 calories and 3 fat, 22 carbohydrate, zero fiber, 15 sugar and zero protein grams. We found the snack at Wal-Mart, 700 Bowman Road, Little Rock.
THE SKINNY: Careful, shopper. There's dietary danger lurking near the checkout of many stores this time of year.
But if you happen to browse the bins at the front of Wal-Mart, as we did recently, you might stumble on the snack find of the season: mini bags of Cracker Jack Holiday Sugar Cookie Popcorn. Not only is it fairly low-calorie (note, we didn't say low-carbohydrate or low-sugar), it's very low-cost (two bags for a mere buck).
There are no peanuts in this version, just corn-syrupy and sugary popcorn with artificially colored sprinkles. But as with other Cracker Jack products, there is a prize inside: In both bags we opened, we got a mittens-and-candy-cane Christmas sticker.
