• When Sergeant W. S. Groves entered the "run-around" at the city jail about 11:30 o'clock yesterday morning, J. J. Fogarty, a prisoner, suddenly seized him and threw him violently against the wall. • The reversal of an apparent victory for a proposed $3 million construction bond issue leaves the North Little Rock School District with an ever increasing pupil enrollment and no way to house the overflow. Providing $4,050,000 to pay for construction of an IMAX theater is Question 11 under the half-cent sales tax for capital improvements voters will consider Oct. 8.

Beside a dais on Cook's Landing where he would shortly -- and officially -- announce the realization of a dream, Pulaski County Judge Buddy Villines watched a gathering crowd. A black sport coat shielded him from the cool morning breeze. More than 500 chairs had been set out, facing the dais, the river and the Pulaski County Pedestrian/Bicycle Bridge, better known as "Big Dam Bridge." But as the ceremony neared its start, more than a third of the chairs remained empty. So volunteers quickly folded the unoccupied seats and carried them away, two and three at a time.
