ARTS INUNDATION

ACANSA appetizer

Partygoers imbibe the culture at soiree preceding annual festival

Guests were offered a "Shot of Culture" as they arrived Sept. 21 to the Junior League of Little Rock building for the kick-off party for ACANSA, the five day central Arkansas arts festival. Served in colorful shot glasses with fruity garnishes, the drink was made with vodka, lime and triple sec.

Upstairs in the ballroom, guests were treated to more culture -- performances by Ballet Arkansas accompanied by members of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. Craig O'Neill was master of ceremonies.

Attendees enjoyed appetizers and drinks before and between performances. A painting by Dominique Simmons illustrating the theme "bridging the arts," and used as cover art in ACANSA brochures, was also up for bid.

The third annual festival featured exhibits, workshops and performances by Arkansas artists and others from outside the state.
