Arkansas State Police reported Wednesday that a woman died in a single-vehicle crash in Howard County.
Sonia Enriquez, 34, of Wickes was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe east on U.S. 278 when she approached a curve about 10:55 p.m. Tuesday. The vehicle overturned and went off the roadway.
Enriquez was killed. A passenger, Ferio Gayosso, 29, of Wickes was injured. He was taken to Mena Regional Health System for treatment.
State police reported that conditions were cloudy but dry when the crash occurred.
Arkansas State Police also reported Wednesday that a woman who was struck by a vehicle last week as she crossed Arkansas 270 in Sheridan had died.
Karen Lee Sappington, 60, was walking across the highway west of Oak Street when a 1991 Dodge traveling east struck her about 7:38 p.m. Sappington was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center-Hot Spring County for treatment, according to a state police crash report. The agency said Wednesday that she had died from her injuries.
No other injuries were reported in the crash.
Conditions were reported to be clear and dry when the accident occurred.
