Third Thursday Open Mic Night

MORRILTON — The Conway County Library, 101 W. Church St., will host its third annual Oktoberfest from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with brats, hot dogs and a selection of nonalcoholic, imported beers. The library staff expects a big turnout again this year, so come by early, bring the entire family, and celebrate the season.

Friends of the Library Annual Meeting
MORRILTON —The Friends of the Conway County Library will have their annual meeting at 2 p.m. at the library, 101 W. Church St. The featured guest speaker will be Arkansas author Tayla Tate Boerner, who will discuss her new book, The Accidental Salvation of Gracie Lee, about a young farm girl growing up in the Arkansas Delta during the mid-1970s. Audubon Society Meeting
CONWAY — The Arkansas River Valley Audubon Society will meet at 7 p.m. in Room 110 of the Donald W. Reynolds Center for Life Sciences, in the basement’s north hall, at Hendrix College. The guest speaker, Leslie Patrick, an outreach specialist with the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission, will present What Makes a Woodpecker a Woodpecker? Blues Bands Concert
MORRILTON — The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton will host two Arkansas blues bands as part of the college’s first Moonlight Concert Series performance, from 7-10 p.m. in the college’s Fine Arts Auditorium. Zakk & Big Papa Binns, a father/son duo from Hot Springs, will open the show. At 8:30 p.m., the Morrilton group AK3, or the Akeem Kemp Band, will take the stage. The concert is open and free to the public.

CONWAY — Tyrone Jaeger, associate professor of English and creative writing at Hendrix College in Conway, will read from his debut collection of short stories, So Many True Believers, at 7 p.m. at the Faulkner County Library. Artist League Workshop
FAIRFIELD BAY — The North Central Arkansas Artist League will present a workshop by Caren Garner of Hot Springs on multimedia techniques for achieving textural effects, with an emphasis on painting animals. Friendship Quilt Display
CONWAY — The Faulkner County Museum is exhibiting friendship quilts at the Faulkner County Library. The museum’s textile collection contains quilts from three centuries. Each quilt comes from a small community in Faulkner County, was made during the 1930s or ’40s, and contains the names of residents of these communities. Stroke Support Group
CONWAY — A free stroke support group for patients and caregivers meets at 6 p.m. the third Thursday of every other month at Conway Regional Rehabilitation Hospital, 2210 Robinson Ave. The next meeting will be Nov. 17. Christmas Parade Entry Forms
RUSSELLVILLE — Entry forms for the 2016 Russellville Christmas Parade are available at the Recreation and Parks Department office, 1000 E. Parkway, and at www.russellvillearkansas.org. QuickBooks Workshops
RUSSELLVILLE — The Arkansas Tech Small Business and Technology Development Center will present two hands-on workshops for QuickBooks desktop software users Oct. 27 at Arkansas Tech University. DRASCO — The International Church Planters’ sixth annual golf tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Oct. 29 at the Tannenbaum Golf Club. All Souls Day Concert
CONWAY— The Hendrix College Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Karen Griebling, will perform All Souls Musical Mediation on Diversity and Inclusion at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31 in the Greene Chapel. Fried Pie Sale
PERRYVILLE — Perryville United Methodist Church will sell fried pies and smoked ribs from Nov. 9-11. The 17th annual Fried Pie Sale is sponsored and prepared by the United Methodist Women. Made-from-scratch pies will be available for $2 each in apple, apricot, peach and chocolate, as well as sugar-free apple, apricot and peach. The Holy Smokers, or United Methodist Men, will prepare the smoked ribs. A full rack of ribs, served with baked beans and slaw, will cost $25. To ensure delivery, preorders of both smoked ribs and fried pies are encouraged. MORRILTON — The third annual Tree-mendous Event will take place from 9:30-11 a.m. Nov. 19 at the Old Allison Ford Building, 1207 E.
