Meanwhile ...

Back at the ranch, or at least back in a state that wants to do right by its kids, Arkansas' Charter Authorizing Panel has given the green light to 900 more seats in a couple of charter schools in Rogers--and approved the first adult-education charter school in the state.

Haas Hall Academy will get to open its fourth campus in 2017, putting 500 kids in downtown Rogers, and a few blocks away the Arkansas Arts Academy has been approved for 400 more kids.

And the Excel Center in Little Rock will open the state's first charter school focusing on adults ages 19 and up who want to earn their high school diplomas. All these decisions now go to the state's Board of Education, which would do well to take the advice of its authorizing panel.

And show those organizations that only talk about improving the lives of the next generation what it means to actually make that happen.
