A Little Rock teenager told police that she was robbed Sunday in a parking lot at Philander Smith College by someone she went shopping with the night before at a convenience store.

The 18-year-old said the robber approached her and a group of friends on the north side of the college at 900 W. Daisy L. Gatson Bates Drive between noon and 1:15 p.m. Sunday, shortly after a church service ended at nearby Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.

A police report noted that the robber, whose identity was not known, walked up to the woman, pointed a gun at her chest and demanded money and her cellphone, the teen told authorities.

The robber was described by the woman as a man whom one of her friends had previously dated, police noted.

The man was able to take $3,000 and an iPhone before he entered a blue car and left in an unknown direction, authorities said. The make and model of that car was not known.

The robber was described as black, 18 to 25 years old, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and wearing a multicolored sweater with white jeans.

2 carjackers in LR rob out-of-towner

Police say a north Arkansas man was robbed of his vehicle at gunpoint late Sunday as he was eating inside it in the parking lot of a pizza restaurant near the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

The victim told authorities that two masked gunmen approached his 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee shortly after 10 p.m. at the Little Caesars at 3412 S. University Ave., according to a report.

The robbers pointed black handguns at the 46-year-old Shirley resident, telling him to get out of his vehicle, police said. The gunmen then got in the SUV and fled south on University Avenue, an officer wrote in the report. In addition to the vehicle, the robbers made off with $100, a wallet, a box of tools, two spare tires and two cellphones, the report said.

Authorities described one of the robbers as wearing a green hoodie and bluejeans. The other was wore a light-brown hoodie and bluejeans, police said. Each was described in the report as black, 18 to 25 years old, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing between 160 and 170 pounds.

Armed car burglar subdued by couple

A man and his wife were able to take down a knife-wielding assailant, who identified himself to authorities as "James Bond," during a robbery Saturday in Little Rock, police say.

A 47-year-old man told Little Rock police that he went outside to check on his 1999 Chevrolet Suburban at his residence in the 2500 block of South Maple Street after hearing his vehicle alarm go off shortly after 8 a.m.

The man found an intruder inside the SUV, which had its rear driver's side window broken out and items from inside strewn about nearby, according to a police report. The intruder then pulled out a knife and began to swing it at the man, cutting him on his right wrist, according to the report.

The victim screamed for help and was able to kick the knife out of the intruder's hand and punch him in the face before his wife rushed outside and hit the intruder with a chair, according to the report.

The impact sent the then-bloodied intruder to the ground, police said.

The intruder, who was found with "a lot of handheld video games and electronics," was taken to UAMS Medical Center for treatment, the report noted. Police say he refused to give his real name to investigators.

Authorities have arrested Paul Hannon, 50, no known address, on charges of aggravated robbery, theft of property and obstructing governmental operations.

He remained at the Pulaski County jail without bail as of Monday, records show.

Gun jams, robber flees; wallet taken

A robber ran away from his victims Saturday morning in west Little Rock after his gun jammed, authorities said.

Shortly after 11 a.m., a robber wearing a black bandanna approached two men who were outside Highway 10 Auto Sales and Collision at 18406 Cantrell Road and demanded money, according to a Little Rock police report.

One of the men handed over his wallet. The robber then told them to go inside the store, but both men reportedly refused. The robber drew a black handgun from his waist and "tried to chamber a round," the report said. The gun appeared to get stuck, however, and the robber then ran west on Cantrell Road before turning south on Valley Ranch Drive. Police searched the area but didn't make an arrest.

The robber was described as black, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. The report said he was wearing a black baseball cap, a green long-sleeved shirt and black pants.

$7,200 in property stolen by burglars

Two unknown men stole $6,000 worth of hair extensions from a Little Rock business early Saturday, according to a police report.

Security footage from Truth Extensions at 1200 John Barrow Road shows a man throwing a large rock through the glass door of the business at 12:24 a.m., according to a police report.

The owner of the shop told police that the men took $6,000 worth of extensions from inside as well as $500 worth of clothing and a $700 Sony camera, the report said.

The burglars pulled their sleeves over their hands so no fingerprints were recovered, police said. The footage did capture a clear picture of the face of one of the burglars, who is described as black, 40 to 45 years old and standing 5 feet 10 inches tall. Authorities did not immediately release the image.
