Anderson suffers broken ankle

Arkansas State had another addition to its injury report Wednesday -- Coach Blake Anderson.

Anderson coached Wednesday with a boot covering his right foot and ankle, and at times he got around on the turf with the help of a scooter. He said he suffered a broken bone in his ankle during a lunchtime game of pickup basketball on campus with a few of his assistants.

"Just landed on it wrong and it popped, so we went and got some work done on it," he said.

Doctors told Anderson to wear the boot for 4-6 weeks, and he's not quite sure from where he'll coach Saturday's home game against Louisiana-Monroe.

Anderson's preference is to remain on the sideline, but he might coach from the press box, where he coached regularly during his days as an offensive coordinator at several stops.

"I think I'll be fine just to stay behind the ball and keep it out in front of me," he said. "We'll play that by ear between now and Saturday. I'll try to be on the sideline if I can."
