Arkansas leads for a junior Tennessee small forward, and he has plans to visit Fayetteville in the near future.

Rodgerick Brown, 6-6, 200 pounds, of Cordova High School was going to travel to Fayetteville this weekend but has pushed the visit back to Sept. 17.

He has scholarship offers from Arkansas, Tulsa, Penn State, Middle Tennessee and UT-Chattanooga. He’s also drawing interest from Iowa State, Memphis, Missouri, Murray State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Belmont.

“They are my front-runner thus far,” said Brown of Arkansas. “I do want to be able to play as a freshman.”

Brown averaged 16.1 points, 10.4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1.8 steal a game as a sophomore. The Hogs’ style of play is a big draw for Brown.

“Fastest 40, tough and hard-nosed, defensive-minded team, and can score in bunches,” Brown said.

He averaged 12.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals a game for the 16-under Team Thad of Memphis during the spring and summer in the Under Armour league. He and Hog assistant T.J. Cleveland communicate often.

“He’s very laid-back; he calls and speaks to me on the regular bases along with texts,” Brown said.

Brown said his parents are very impressed with Cleveland.

“He asks about about school, my development and me as a whole,” Brown said.

His description of his game fits what the Hogs like to do.

“I’m a hard worker on both ends, I rebound well for my size, and I take pride in my defense,” Brown said. “I can score on all three levels. I’m focusing more on improving ball handling and decision making. I run the court well.”

Brown, who has a 3.8 GPA, is strong in his faith.

“Well I believe that God has blessed me with abilities and made provisions for me to excel,” Brown said. “I have to keep my faith strong and do right no matter what.”
