A judge sentenced a Little Rock man to 12 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to 10 counts of child porn possession, the attorney general's office said.

Don Michael Cox, 34, will also have to pay an $8,000 fine and register as a sex offender, Attorney General Leslie Rutledge's office said in a statement.

The attorney general's cyber crimes unit arrested Cox on Feb. 12, 2014. According to an affidavit, Cox had images of teen and preteen girls on a laptop computer.

"I appreciate my office’s partnership with local prosecutors and law enforcement agencies across the state to protect our children and ensure these dangerous predators are brought to justice," Rutledge said in the statement. “ I am committed to getting these criminals out of our neighborhoods and off the Internet.”

Cox was also accused of two counts of rape in 2014, but the state dropped the charges after the victim in that case died in a car crash.
