Father, son killed when pickup runs off Arkansas highway, overturns

A father and son were killed and two other people were injured Monday when a pickup ran off an Arkansas highway and overturned multiple times, authorities said.

It happened shortly after 4:45 p.m. as Miguel Sedano Sr., 46, drove a Ford F-150 west on Arkansas 138 in Drew County, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

Police say the pickup veered off the highway west of Winchester near Plantation Road. The vehicle then overturned several times, the report said.

Sedano and his son, 25-year-old Miguel Sedano Jr., both of Warren, each suffered fatal injuries. Two others in the vehicle — 19-year-old Javier Guillermo and 20-year-old Luis Sedano — were also hurt. The report did not detail the extent of their injuries.

Conditions at the time of the wreck were said to be clear and dry. It wasn't clear what may have caused the pickup to leave the highway.

The deaths brought to 353 the number of fatalities in traffic crashes on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
