Index follows U.S. market dip for day

The Arkansas Index, a price-weighted index that tracks the largest public companies based in the state, fell 0.64 to 343.71 Thursday.

"U.S. stocks moved lower Thursday as the markets digested comments from [European Central Bank] chief [Mario] Draghi, who said the Governing Council did not discuss extending its bond-buying program and there is currently no need for additional stimulus," said John Blackwell, senior vice president and managing director of equity trading at Stephens Inc. in Little Rock.

The index was developed by Bloomberg News and the Democrat-Gazette with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 30, 1997.
